Raspberry Pi Zero W
I picked up one of the new Raspberry Pi Zero W. It's tiny compared to the Raspberry Pi 3 at 65mm x 30mm x 5mm. It has:
- 1GHz, Single-core CPU
- 512MB RAM
- Mini HDMI and USB On-The-Go ports
- Micro USB power
- HAT-compatible 40-pin header
- Composite video and reset headers
- CSI camera connector
- 802.11n wireless LAN
- Bluetooth 4.0
I saw the wireless LAN and, well ordered one on the day of release. It arrived three days later.
I already have the Pi 3 & thought I'd just plug that SD card into the Zero W and it should just go. Turns out it won't straight away.
As its a new pi the version of raspbian I have been using on my Pi 3 was old. I needed to run;
sudo apt-get update sudo apt-get upgrade
This then installed the new drivers needed for the Zero W's on board WiFi.
I'm looking forward to tinkering with this and seeing what other people do with this, especially with the built in wireless and bluetooth.
